7 TIPS TO MAKE YOU A GREAT EMPLOYEE!

"Success always comes from deeds. People succeed and even make mistakes, but they don't stop trying." Want to know how to be a great employee? Here are the 7 tips to make you a great employee:

1.  Manage time effectively to increase productivity

  • Prioritize our tasks

When you have a lot of tasks to complete, it's important to prioritize wisely. Make a list of priorities and focus on the tasks that have the greatest impact on the goal.

  • Make a daily plan

Making a daily plan is an effective way to manage time. Start each day by planning the activities to be done. Set specific times for certain tasks and make sure to follow the schedule that has been created. By having a structured plan, you can avoid wasting time and optimize productivity.

How to manage time to be more productive that can be done at night before going to bed is to make a list of what will be done. To do list not only concerns work, but other activities such as what time will wake up can also be included in the list. You can record it neatly and organize your activity or work schedule through to-do list applications such as Google Calendar or TickTick. The goal is to be able to know what activities must be done, and what things can be postponed in the future.

  • Evaluate and adjust

Last but not least, it's important to regularly evaluate timings and make adjustments. Identify ineffective patterns and look for ways to improve them. Also consider changes in routine or needs that might affect timing. By constantly improving and adjusting, you will find the most effective approach to managing time.

2. Have good communication skills

Because working in the office is not only one-way to oneself, but also leads to clients, superiors and co-workers, communication is also an important part of work. Good communication can help build relationships with new people. For example, if you are a new employee, by communicating you can get acquainted and eventually become closer to other colleagues.

Another reason why communication is important in life is that it helps convey whatever we want or think to others. You can also convey something you need to others. In addition, it could be that the ideas you have can provide change, become new innovations, or achieve other good things.

3. Never work half-heartedly and be a professional

Within the scope of work full of challenges and competition, being a professional worker is the key to achieving success and superior work quality. Working with commitment and dedication is the foundation for achieving optimal results, building a good reputation and creating a positive impact in the work environment. When we become a worker, we are obliged to do our work wholeheartedly and with all our energy in order to become outstanding employees. If you are used to working half-heartedly, it will definitely be difficult to work wholeheartedly.

4. Disciplined and motivated to work

The relationship of motivation with work discipline is a very significant positive relationship. Work motivation is the drive or desire that drives a person to work well and achieve goals. Work discipline is an attitude or behavior that shows obedience and responsibility to work. Work motivation can increase work discipline because it makes employees more diligent, careful, and enthusiastic in performing obligations.

Rivai (2019: 838) argues that basically motivation can spur employees to work hard so that they can achieve their goals, thereby increasing employee performance so that it affects the achievement of company goals.  This means that every increase in employee motivation will provide a very meaningful increase for improving employee performance in carrying out their work.

Mathis and Jackson (2016: 324) stated that the main standard in measuring performance is one of the measurements of presences at work, which is an assumption used in measuring or assessing the work of employees by looking at the attendance list.  If the employee's attendance is below the established working day standard then the employee will not be able to make an optimal contribution to the organization.  The relationship between work discipline and employee performance is that good performance must be carried out through high discipline and good performance emotionally employees will get comfort in carrying out their work.

5. High initiative

Initiative is the ability to find new/different ideas and actions to achieve the same goal. The world of work today has a fairly competitive environment so that anyone is expected to have an attitude of initiative and dare to take action in completing their work. These initiatives can take the form of proposing new ideas, suggesting different actions than before, proposing new solutions, creating new opportunities, and more.

6. Want to learn

As is known, the world is always changing, including in the work environment so it must always be ready and willing to adapt. When there is something new and unknown, you can dig up various information about it. Learn every detail so you can do it. This persistence to continuously learn from various sources will help acquire a variety of new knowledge and skills that are certainly useful for careers.

7. Don't be afraid to fail

The process of achieving success is not always easy. There are some things that can make you feel difficult and want to give up. However, don't just give up and have to keep going if you want to be a successful person. Face all the obstacles that exist. Find a way out of every problem. All efforts accompanied by failure are precisely an important step in achieving success. Because, you can learn from these mistakes and failures so that you don't repeat them again in the future.
